A City-Marketing Success Story: "Schön Tot", the Margareten-based Thriller by Edith Kneifl

In November 2009, the pan-European celebrated author Edith Kneifl published a literary thriller in which all locations and supporting characters are real: based on and around shops, restaurants, and pubs in Margareten, the fifth of Vienna's 23 districts, and their owners. After months of research, Kneifl finally found a suitable area in which to set her lurid, whimsical plot. The 20 or so enterprises in Margareten, which were chosen to host the thriller's happenings, were all equally enthusiastic about this project, and financed its entire first run.

Edith Kneifl is the grande dame of Austrian thriller novels. She has received numerous literary awards, among them the Theodor Körner Prize for Literature, and the Friedrich Glauzer Prize for the best thriller of the year 1992.
